Al Ittihad have made official the signing of Karim Benzema as the Saudi Arabian club's new player, agreeing a contract until 2026. The gigantic offer of 100 million euros net per season has won out over the automatic renewal clause with Real Madrid for the current Ballon d'Or holder.

Benzema, in this way, puts an end to his time as a Real Madrid player, after 14 seasons wearing the shirt of Los Blancos. The striker said goodbye this morning at an event held at the Santiago Bernabéu before leaving for Saudi Arabia, the same country where former Real Madrid player Cristiano Ronaldo also plays.

"I don't have many words because it's a bit of a sad day, because it hurts me to leave the club. I had a dream, to sign and finish at Real Madrid, but in life there is another chance sometimes and I do it with my family," explained the striker.

His first words as a player of Al Ittihad have been more than brief: "Looking forward to seeing you in Jeddah," said the French striker in the video published by the Saudi club to officially announce the player's incorporation.
