OFFICIAL: Hazard takes the '7' shirt at Real Madrid; no number for Kubo
Real Madrid drop further hints about who does and doesn't have a long-term future at the club
Real Madrid have officially released the shirt numbers for the 2019/20 season and the biggest news is Eden Hazard taking the number '7' shirt. Take Kubo, who has impressed in preseason, hasn't been assigned a shirt number and looks set to spend the season with Castilla.
Mariano Diaz, who wore the '7' shirt last season, has been bumped down to '24' which suggests Zidane want him gone too.
The only youngsters who received a first-team squad number were Rodrygo (27) and Vinicius (28). Kubo misses out completely.
James Rodríguez
Another player who doesn't appear to have much of a future at the club is James Rodriguez. Despite rumours surrounding his future, the Colombian was handed the number '16' shirt.
The new arrivals Mendy, Jovic and Militao will wear 23, 18 and 3 respectively.
