Nike & Cristiano Ronaldo extend their long relationship

The agreement will be made public soon after the Portuguese forward also extended his Madrid contract

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo will renew his contract with Nike and could earn as much as 24 million euros a year. Even though the numbers have still not been released, the player will sign a contract similar to the one once signed by Michael Jordan.

In 1984, Jordan signed a huge contract with the American sportswear manufacturer. Nike signed Jordan to get the better of Reebok in sales and achieved as much with the release of some footwear designed exclusively for the former basketball star.

In the case of Ronaldo, he will reportedly sign a similar deal, converting him into the image of the brand. The Portugal star will earn around 24 million euros a year, the same as he earns at Real Madrid.

In 2003, a young Ronaldo was signed by Nike and in the years that have followed he’s used more than 60 pairs of Nike boots. Wearing them, he’s scored goals, broken records and won trophies. Now the mutually beneficial relationship between the two parties is set to continue.

For the North American brand, Ronaldo is one of the most marketable personalities they have, not just for his career as a footballer, but for the millions of followers he has on social media.
