Florentino Perez spoke after Madrid won the Copa del Rey against Osasuna on Saturday

Florentino Pérez, who is not prone to making assessments in the heat of the moment, skipped his own protocol after Real Madrid's victory in the Copa del Rey final against Osasuna (2-1) on Saturday.

The Real Madrid president sent a message of brotherhood to Osasuna and congratulated them on the game. "They are having a great season, they are giving their all and that is worthy of respect," he said.

Pérez acknowledged the value of a trophy like the Copa, especially because of the difficult opponents they have had to overcome along the way.

He added: "It has been a very competitive Copa del Rey. We started with Cacereño, who gave us a lot of fight, then Villarreal, Atlético and Barcelona. In the final, we were up against a team like Osasuna, who played a great game and that's why I value them even more."

As for Rodrygo, the scorer of both Madrid goals in the match, the president said: "He's very good. He's very young. He's going to give us Madridistas many years of satisfaction."

Pérez also took the opportunity to analyse what Vinicius 'suffers' on the pitch. The Madrid president praised the Brazilian and asked rivals and referees to respect him.

"He is the best in the world in his position," he said. "It's difficult to stop him and they have to foul him a lot. He protests and he gets a lot of cards, which I don't understand. We have to defend the players who put on a show and generate excitement."

Finally, he sent a complaint to those in charge of making the calendar, due to the accumulation of matches and the upcoming Champions League tie against Manchester City: "It doesn't give us time to rest. Whoever draws up the calendar should take a look at it."
