The Spanish club are ready to cut their losses on the Colombian international

James Rodriguez could be closer to signing for Manchester United. The English press suggest the Premier League side are ready to offer Real Madrid 25 million euros for the Colombian and Madrid are ready to accept it, even though it's half of what they hoped to sell him for.

James only has a year to run on his contract and has told Madrid he wants to leave this summer as he is no longer in coach Zinedine Zidane's plans. Madrid have paid off the transfer after his six seasons at the club. They paid Monaco 80 million for him in 2014 and he has won two Champions Leagues and two La Ligas. He spent two seasons on loan at Bayern Munich, who paid 13 million to do so and took on his 7.75 million annual salary.

WANTED TO LEAVE

James' exit has been a year in the making. Last summer he was keen to leave but Madrid never received a satisfactory offer for the playmaker. Napoli were closest to signing him but never got close to Los Blancos' asking price. Later, Atletico Madrid moved to, but Madrid did not want to sell to their local rival.

Zidane's hardly used James this season. The player is aware that he does not fit in under the Frenchman and ended the season removing himself from the squad for the final few league games. It was then that he made it clear that his desire is to leave and Madrid will make it possible for him to depart as soon as possible.
