The French striker has given up on the league but says Madrid will still fight to win

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema hit back at the media after the club's elimination from the Champions League and double Clasico defeat. After netting a brace in a 4-1 win over Real Valladolid, Benzema spoke on Movistar.

"We have a great team and you all need to be on our side more. Not just the fans, but the journalists. When I talk about everyone, I mean everyone, without distinction."

Benzema continued: "We've won a lot in recent years. We lost against Ajax and it seems like we've never won anything."

On critcism from Modric towards the club's forwards, he said: "Everyone can think what they want. I don't think that. We are here. Cristiano is not in Madrid any more and we must continue."

On Solari: "Sure, sure, I want him to stay. Why change? We have 11 games to go, I hope he stays with us and we win each one. The dressing room is united. Solari until the end of the season? I hope so, but it's up to the club. I want it.

"We are with Solari. Sometimes the journalists say things, you know. If a dressing room is not united, we can't have a game like we had today. We're out of the Copa and the UCL and La Liga is nearly impossible. Football is like this and we have to continue. We have to enjoy it. We can't forget that we've won a lot in these years."
