Reports claim the Frenchman will take over at the Bernabei once again

Zinedine Zidane will replace Santiago Solari as Real Madrid coach, returning to the club he left last season, according to a report on Jugones.

Jugones claimed the decision will be made official at some time after 18.00h on Monday, with Solari set to be dismissed after Madrid's season fell apart last week.

Zidane, who left Madrid 200 days ago, has finally been convinced by president Florentino Perez to return to the Santiago Bernabeu hot seat.

The negotiations have been long but Zidane, who had other offers, has accepted, leaving Jose Mourinho, one of the other candidates, without the opportunity to return to Spain.

Solari took Madrid training on Monday after Sunday's win over Real Valladolid but his days have been numbered since defeats to Barcelona (twice) and Ajax saw Madrid knocked out of the Copa del Rey and the Champions League and fall 12 points behind top spot in La Liga.

It's not known if Solari's said goodbye to the players yet. They have Tuesday off and are due back in for training on Wednesday.

According to the report on Jugones -- which is quickly spreading and picking up pace -- Zidane will return as Madrid coach on Tuesday.

The Frenchman, who replaced Raf Benitez in January 2016, won three Champions Leagues and one La Liga during a two-and-a-half year stint as Madrid boss.

He stepped down last summer after beating Liverpool in the Champions League final.
