The young Madrid defender appears to be permanently injured since the club decided to bring him back

Jesús Vallejo is enduring a living nightmare at Real Madrid since the club decided to bring him back. Vallejo is yet to make his first appearance this season. The centre back appears to be permanently injured ever since Madrid bought him back after he'd impressed with spells at Zaragoza and Frankfurt. Poor Vallejo has suffered more than anyone else at Real Madrid and has been out injured for 138 days and missed 28 matches.

And it's those constant muscle injuries, with so many setbacks, which have caused Vallejo to miss so much football. A lot of people are beginning to compare him with Jonathan Woodgate. The Brit also struggled with injuries throughout his spell in the Spanish capital.

For Real Madrid it's something of a double-blow as they opted for Vallejo rather than Mario Hermoso, currently at Espanyol, and now the Espanyol defender is part of Luis Enrique's plans for Spain. Vallejo missed 21 matches last season through injury and he's already missed half of this season's squads due to his unavailability. His absence has seen Javi Sanchez, another guy from Real Madrid's academy, force his way into the first team picture.
