Isco is fed up after Clasico snub by Zidane

The player has been crucial for Madrid this season but was left out of the line up

Isco is a talented player but he doesn’t have the power to go back in time. If he could, he would surely go back to the day he signed his recent contract renovation with Real Madrid and not sign a deal which put a 700 million release clause over his head. A number which gives him no power and leaves his future completely in Madrid’s hands if he wants to leave.

Isco feels tricked, again. This time he had been happier for longer. The Malaga-born man played a lot of games as a starter and was doing well, hailed by many for his good performances. However Zidane benched him for the clasico, deciding to play Kovacic instead. The whole season he has been in good form and he ends up on the bench in the biggest game. It was an unexpected blow for the midfielder, who will take a long time to get over this humiliation.

It is yet to be seen how Isco will react. And if he starts games again in the weeks ahead it will likely not heal the wound after being shown Zidane does not count on him in the biggest games.

His contract renewal was a soap opera. Barcelona’s interest made him doubt but eventually the money convinced him to put pen to paper, along with Zidane’s promises. With the BBC broken up by injury, he was a key starter. But in a 4-3-3 with the forwards fit, Isco is behind Casemiro, Modric and Kroos as the midfielders.

Isco’s goals and assists wowed the Bernabeu, who did not understand why Zidane dropped him for the Clasico. Isco feels deceived again and this time worse than before. The problem now is that Isco is not the owner of his own future due to the prohibitive 700m clause on his head.
