Now that the Premier League transfer window has closed, only Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga remain viable options for the Welsh winger

The option of the Premier League is no longer on the table for Gareth Bale after it shut yesterday afternoon. That means the only choices available for Bale to leave Real Madrid this summer is Ligue 1 or the Bundesliga, with Serie A being practically impossible due to the cost of a deal.

Despite it being clear that Zinedine Zidane doesn't want Bale around the club, no one in England thought a transfer was viable.

The Spanish transfer market, alongside the other main ones in Europe, closes on the 2nd September. PSG could be a possibility if Neymar eventually moves on.

PSG and Bayern could offer a solution to Real Madrid

Bale could be key to unlocking Neymar's own transfer saga. Barça and Madrid are the only possible destinations for the Brazilian.

Madrid's idea is to offer around €100m and includes a player from their squad, which could be Bale, to bring in Neymar. It would be the ideal solution as it gets the Welshman off their books and PSG would get €100m and a new star for their team.

Bayern Munich are waiting to see what happens should a potential move to France look unlikely.

Leroy Sane's knee injury has forced them to look at alternatives to replace Robben and Ribery on the flanks. However the Germans would prefer a loan deal with an option to buy, similar to the one they had with James Rodriguez, rather than matching Madrid's current asking price.

Serie A doesn't appear likely as the 'rich' sides have already spent a considerable amount of money this summer.
