Granada 1-4 Real Madrid: Capital clash for the title

Zinedine Zidane's side are two points behind leaders Atletico with two games to go

It’s down to two, then. The capital clubs will duke it out for the title in the final two games of the season.

Real Madrid thrashed Granada, although for a minute they had to sweat, when Jorge Molina struck in the second half and suddenly Thibaut Courtois became busy.

But the much maligned Eden Hazard set up the equally maligned Alvaro Odriozola and he scored to give Madrid a cushion again.

Luka Modric and Rodrygo Goes had netted in the first half to put Zinedine Zidane’s side in a comfortable lead.

However when Molina fired home to give Granada a chance, Atletico woke up, eagerly watching in case this was the moment the league fell into their lap.

But Odriozola blasted home and then Karim Benzema curled home the fourth from distance.

Real Madrid are on 78 points from 36 matches, two points behind Atletico with just two matches left, starting with the clash at Athletic Bilbao this weekend.

“The only thing we can keep doing is chasing Atletico and hope they don’t win,” explained Madrid goalkeeper Courtois.

“We have to make sure they don’t have any margin for error. They won and all we can do is look at ourselves, and focus on the difficult game in Bilbao, which is another final.”
