Zinedine Zidane has decided to start Gareth Bale in the first league game of the season as Real Madrid travel to Celta Vigo. The Welshman starts on the right flank at Balaidos after a summer in which the coach and club have tried to push him out of the door.

Zidane picked Courtois in goal, Odriozola, Varane, Ramos and Marcelo in defence, Casemiro, Modric and Kroos in midfield, and Bale, Benzema and Vinicius up front.

That means none of the 300m worth of talent Real Madrid signed in the summer is starting. Hazard is injured, while Jovic and Militao are on the bench, with Navas, James Rodriguez, Nacho and Isco.
