Odriozola will battle with Dani Carvajal for a first-team slot at Madrid

Real Madrid chief Florentino Perez said at Alvaro Odriozola's presentation at the club that new signings would arrive and the defender knew clearly where he wanted to be.

"It's a great squad that will be reinforced with great players, that's why a player has arrived at Real Madrid who a lot of big clubs wanted, but he knew clearly where he wanted to play," said Perez of Odriozola.

The right-back, 22, joined from Real Sociedad for around 30m euros after appearing at the World Cup with Spain.

"We are conscious of the level of demand on the team each season," added Perez. "We are Real Madrid and we always want more. Each title is a first step looking towards looking for new victories, so we have to construct now to strengthen the future."
