Ferland Mendy will raise Real Madrid spending to 331m euros
The Lyon defender is the next in at the Santiago Bernabeu
Real Madrid are continuing their heavy investment in signings with the Lyon defender Ferland Mendy, who will take a medical on Wednesday ahead of a 50m euro deal.
He will become the fifth acquisition for Madrid this summer after Eden Hazard (100m), Luka Jovic (60m), Militao (50m), Rodrygo (45m) and Lunin (9m). Along with Brahim (17m) who came in January, they have spent 331m euros with the majority of the summer to come.
Madrid are operating with the policy of ‘bring them in first, let them go later’. With Mendy, Zidane will have 38 players including those on loan, 31 in the first team squad.
And Madrid still want one or two more players, Paul Pogba, Christian Eriksen and Ruben Dias are the main candidates.
For now the only player to leave is Oscar Rodriguez, on loan to Leganes.
Borja Mayoral, James Rodríguez, Odegaard, De Tomás, Theo, Kovacic and Lucas Silva have no place under Zidane.
Then Madrid want to let six or seven more players go, with Keylor Navas, Vallejo, Nacho, Reguilón, Mariano, Bale, Lucas Vázquez, Llorente, Isco, Ceballos and Lucas Vázquez all possible options.
