Didier Deschamps vetoes Karim Benzema's selection
The Real Madrid forward is in special form but could be left out
Karim Benzema, despite his goals for Real Madrid, will not be called up to the Spanish national team while Didier Deschamps is in charge.
The French coach gave an interview to TF1 saying as much.
"It's a sporting decision, I simply think that his selection would not be good for the national team. Thinking about things in function of what's best for the French national team and what the shirt represents, that's it. I'm not saying it would be bad but just that it's an option I'm not looking at."
It's clear his 'blackmail' episode with Valbuena has not been forgotten. Far from it.
