Courtois could be punished for disrespecting Valencia fans
The Belgian stopper was heavily involved as Madrid snatched a point at Mestalla
Thibaut Courtois featured heavily in Real Madrid's 1-1 draw with Valencia at Mestalla on Sunday. The goalkeeper joined the attack in added time and it was his header, saved by Jaume Domenech, which led to Karim Benzema's dramatic equaliser.
However, toe controversy arrived when the Belgian goalkeeper returned to his goal celebrating the leveller and making a fuss in front of the stands. Courtois put his hands to his hears and then blew ironic kisses to the angry home supporters. The images were captured by Movistar and could lead to a punishment.
"I took advantage of my height at the corner," Courtois said. "I am two meters tall and it can make the opposition nervous if I go up. Toni (Kroos) delivers the corners to the front post, I saw it was coming and connected well. Then it dropped for Benzema and he scored."
