Confidencial: Mariano does not want to leave Real Madrid

Even though he's not playing often, he would like to stay if possible

Real Madrid are in good form and have just won the Spanish Supercopa but they are struggling to manage the sheer size of their squad this season.

The excess of players makes it almost impossible for squad members like Mariano and Brahim to play and the club would be keen to let them leave this month.

But in both cases, they have the same problem: neither of the two players want to leave Los Blancos despite their lack of minutes.

Catalan forward Mariano did play in the Supercopa last week due to injuries in attack but they were his first appearances of the season -- 10 minutes in the semifinal against Valencia and he came on in the 83rd minute against Atletico, taking part in extra-time but not taking a penalty.

Madrid's intention is to move him on. He rejoined the club from Lyon in 2018 and has a contract until 2023 but is behind Benzema and Jovic in the pecking order.

But Mariano has made it clear he does not want to leave. He would prefer to stay even if that means hardly playing. The main problem is his 5 million euros salary. Maybe that was why he played in the Supercopa but he was once again out of the squad for Saturday's game against Sevilla, with Benzema back from an injury.

Clubs like Leganes, Benfica and Espanyol have all shown an interest in him this summer but so far to no avail.

Brahim's situation is similar. He joined from Manchester City last summer and signed until 2025. Getafe want to take him on loan but he has not shown any desire to leave his comfort zone at the Bernabeu.
