Benzema: "We want to carry over our LaLiga form and beat City"

Karim Benzema has assured rivals that Real Madrid want to "follow on" from their form in LaLiga and beating Manchester City is "very important".

The French striker picked up the 'Five-Star Player' award and spoke about the upcoming Champions League format. "The team is fine and now we have time to prepare. We want to continue on from how we were in LaLiga and beat City, which is really important."

The player thanked supporters for the award after scoring 21 goals in 37 LaLiga matches. "I'm proud of this trophy because it comes from the fans and that's very important. I'm very happy and this makes me even more determined to perform on the pitch."

Real Madrid will be hoping to add the Champions League to their LaLiga crown but go into the match against City 2-1 down after losing at the Santiago Bernabeu.
