Zidane has a shortage of players in the middle of midfield for the Champions League clash

Gareth Bale returns to the Real Madrid squad for Wednesday's game against Paris Saint-Germain but Zinedine Zidane is without seven players for the game in France.

Marcelo, Luka Modric, Fede Valverde, Isco and Marco Asensio are all absent through injury, while Sergio Ramos and Nacho Fernandez are both suspended.

Bale is back, though, having missed the weekend's win over Levante following his red card in the draw at Villarreal before the international break.

Zidane, therefore, is left with just three midfielders for his side's Champions League opener: Casemiro, Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez.

PSG, meanwhile, are without the suspended Neymar and the injured Kylian Mbappe for the game in the French capital.

Madrid squad: Courtois, Areola, Diego Altube, Dani Carvajal, Odriozola, Militão, Varane, Mendy, De la Fuente, Casemiro, Kroos, James, Lucas Vázquez, Hazard, Bale, Vinicius, Rodrygo, Benzema and Jovic.
