Sources close to the club say the Belgian is seven kilos too heavy

Real Madrid's preseason would not been what Zinedine Zidane has in mind. The club's new signings have not yet convinced and the sales of players like Gareth Bale have not yet been pushed through as the French coach would have hoped. Throw in a humiliating defeat to rivals Atletico Madrid and now another problem has come up: a 'galactico' signing struggling with his weight.

Eden Hazard, a player who Florentino Perez flogged as the solution to Madrid's problems, landed in Montreal seven kilos overweight, according to club sources. The same sources say Perez is now saying that he doesn't have confidence in the Belgian forward and that he was signed because Zidane wanted him.

Remember that Hazard is the club's most expensive ever signing (120 million euros plus 20 in add ons), ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale. It's a setback which Zidane can add to the long-term injury suffered by Marco Asensio and the fitness issues Brahim, Ferland Mendy and Luka Jovic are experiencing.

Madrid and Zidane still have, at least, two more games before the season starts. On Tuesday they face Tottenham in Munich in the Audi Cup and on Wednesday, Aug. 8, they will play against Red Bull Salzburg.
