The Italian coach has one more year to run on his contract at the Bernabeu

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is clear that "the objective is to end the season well" after finishing "hurt" by the Champions League defeat to Manchester City, which does not prevent him from describing the campaign as "good" after "evaluating it" in the "weekly meetings" that he says he has with president Florentino Pérez.

He affirms that the club (the president) has guaranteed him that he will fulfill the remaining year of his contract and that personally his "motivation" is greater for the next season after "not being satisfied with what has been done in La Liga" and in the Champions League.

The Italian considers the Etihad episode to be forgotten despite the fact that "elimination hurts." He said: "Nobody should forget that it was the semi-final, not the round of 16 or the group stage. The opponent was better, we congratulate them and we look forward to the next Champions League."

He continued: "We are ready for the game against Valencia. The objective is to finish the season well. I will put out the best XI because physically everyone has recovered well. It has been a good season, although it could have been better".

He added that this is what he analysed with the president: "We spoke yesterday, as is customary every week. He has shown us his support and affection, we spoke about the match, the season and both. There is unity and enthusiasm to do things well.

"The transition doesn't start next season, it started before I arrived. The team started to lose pieces in 2018 with the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. Since then good, quality young players have arrived. The transition continued with the departure of players like Marcelo, Varane, Bale Isco... who have been replaced by young players of extraordinary quality.

"Vinicius, Camavinga, Rodrygo, Militao, Valverde and Tchouameni are starters. Next season these youngsters will play a bit more and the veterans less."

Personally, he said he is "even more motivated after the defeat against City, with the desire to do better and reach the highest level." And on links with the Brazil national team, he gave a change of direction: "Everyone knows my situation very well, I have a contract until 30 June 2024 and I want to fulfill it. If the club has guaranteed me that I will fulfill it? Yes."
