New offer from PSG to renew Lionel Messi's deal

The Argentine star is still wanted by the club despite the UCL KO

In Qatar, PSG are finalising the details of a second offer to Leo Messi to extend his contract with the Parisian club for at least one more season.

According to sources in Doha, it is Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani himself, Emir of Qatar, who has given orders to take a new step to ensure the Argentine star stays at PSG, and that his memory in elite football ends up being as a PSG player.

PSG find themselves in a difficult moment with the premature elimination from the Champions League, the trophy they have been pining for, for more than a decade. Having an attack made up of Messi, Mbappé and Neymar has not been enough to get through the knockout rounds and go far in the competition.

This 'KO' has led him to rethink his project, but there are pieces that must be maintained, that are untouchable. Such as in the case of Mbappé and Messi himself. PSG would like to get rid of Neymar but in this case it is the Brazilian who is making the years left on his contract count in order to stay.

During the play-off against Bayern, which saw Paris eliminated from Europe, PSG, through Luis Campos, their sporting director, met with Jorge Messi, the player's agent and father. At this meeting, PSG presented him with an initial offer that did not satisfy the Messi family, especially as the sporting project was not clear. Messi prioritises winning titles over a good contract, and for that, he needs the team to have a good squad. In this first meeting, Jorge Messi did not receive sufficient guarantees that this would be the case.

Now, PSG is rethinking its entire policy to really have a team capable of competing for the Champions League and Messi is considered essential. Therefore, when this new offer/project is designed (it is almost ready, according to what we are told from Qatar), PSG will sit down again with Jorge Messi to make him a second proposal.

Leo, who is now in Argentina, will then have the final say in deciding where he will continue his career.
