Criticism for Luis Enrique & Mbappe as PSG dismantled by Newcastle

The French side were beaten 4-1 by the Premier League team in the Champions League

Paris Saint-Germain suffered a fall on Wednesday that will be difficult to recover from. To concede four goals in the Champions League is no ordinary slip, and even less so for a team that is a candidate to lift the 'trophy.

The drubbing by Newcastle United has opened the door to a barrage of criticism, with Kylian Mbappé and Luis Enrique the two main targets.

The Asturian coach, who came out to play with four strikers and two midfielders, did not get his approach right and leaked a 'trolley' of goals.

"The most surprising thing is that he did not change anything in his plans despite the enormous difficulties his team had in midfield," wrote L'Équipe in its report, giving the coach's performance a 3/10.

"Luis Enrique, mainly responsible for this fiasco. PSG did nothing, achieved nothing and suffered throughout the match," headlined Le Parisien after the debacle.

For now, they are second in the group with three points from two games. In Ligue 1, they are fifth with three wins, three draws and one defeat.

A 2/10 for Mbappé

As if the 'stones' that fell on Luis Enrique weren't enough, Mbappé received the worst rating of the whole team with a 2/10 in L'Equipe.

"Perhaps because the balls weren't coming to him, he went looking for them too far back. Too little for him," they said.

The Frenchman, who played in attack with Ousmane Dembele, Goncalo Ramos and Kolo Muani, watched helplessly as his side were undone by the minute and Newcastle's goals fell one after the other.

Dembele's game was also quite discreet. He saw a yellow card and was not able to generate much danger.
