Man United midfielder Bruno Fernandes is one of the few footballers who have criticised the new European Super League plan.

“Dreams can’t be bought,” he wrote on Instagram, sharing a post by his Portuguese compatriot Daniel Podence. The Wolves midfielder posted a photo of him with a Champions League ball.

Man United are one of the 12 founding clubs of the Super League and Ed Woodward, one of their owners is vice-president of the new tournament.

Man City defender Joao Cancelo also shared Podence’s message on social media, another player at a club that is to be involved in the tournament.

Football may never be the same again.
