The Reds have tied down one of their most prized assets

Liverpool have tied down Sengal forward Sadio Mane to a new contract, the club announced on their official website on Friday.

According to reports in England, Mane's new deal at Anfield takes him through until 2023.

The wide man joined the club in 2016 in a deal worth around 38 million euros from Premier League side Southampton.

He's played 89 times for Liverpool, scoring 40 goals, including one in last season's Champions League final against Real Madrid.

"I'm really happy to have extended my contract with Liverpool," Mane said. "It's a big day for me, I have taken the best decision for my career.

"I'm looking forward to everything, to helping the team, the club fulfill their dreams, especially winning trophies. I have always said that when I had the chance to come here, I didn't think twice. It's the perfect club, the perfect moment and the perfect coaxch (Jurgen Klopp)."
