Benfica's impressive left back, who came through La Masia, continues to perform at a high level and is expected to move on this summer

One of the most sought after names in the next transfer window will be Alejandro Grimaldo. The Benfica left back is enjoying yet another fantastic season in Portugal and this has alerted the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal to his current situation.

Grimaldo, who came through the youth ranks at FC Barcelona, was chosen as the best defender in the Portuguese league.  The voting was done by the first team coaches in the league who recognised his fine run of form. Those performances have caused Europe's elite sides to take a greater interest in the player's development.

In previous windows the left back has been close to joining Napoli but it appears this summer might finally be the time he moves on. He's recently put his future in the hands of the Wesserman company which has strong links with Premier League sides. They represent Van Dijk, who moved to Liverpool last summer, as well as Kante, Barkley, Stones and Barça's Lenglet.

Manchester City and Arsenal appear to be at the front of the queue. Pep Guardiola wants to strengthen his squad at left back due to Mendy's injury issues. The arrival of Monchi at Arsenal could see them make a move for Grimaldo too. The director of football has been a long term fan of the full back.
