The English side want to strengthen in the middle of the pitch this summer

Manchester City want to make some big signings this summer, according to various media close to the English champions.

As they wait for a final decision on Erling Haaland's future, City are also working on signing a new midfielder for Pep Guardiola's team and two names are on the table: Paul Pogba and Frenkie de Jong.

According to the Daily Mail's Mike Keegan, Pogba is a genuine option. The French midfielder plays for their cross-town rivals Manchester United but is out of contract in the summer. He would be keen to play for Guardiola.

Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on Pogba and could complicate things for City, at least on a financial level.

Meanwhile, according to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona's de Jong is admired by City, too, but there has been no moves towards signing him yet due to the cost of a potential deal.
