According to the German coach, Liverpool couldn't afford Coutinho but he recommended a move to the Bundesliga for the midfielder

Philippe Coutinho was one of the most talked about players during the recent transfer window. The Brazilian struggled to find his place at FC Barcelona and was heavily linked with a move to PSG as part of a deal for Neymar. However, a few days before the window shut, Coutinho joined Bayern Munich on loan with an option to make it permanent for €120m next summer.

Jurgen Klopp was asked by 'Bild' whether an Anfield return was ever on the cards for Coutinho this summer. "He's a world class player and a really good signing for Bayern - and the Bundesliga."

The coach admitted that he didn't want to lose Coutinho but Barça's offer "forced" them too after making such a huge bid. Liverpool were linked with a move for the Brazilian but there simply wasn't the funds available to make it happen. "We have already spent the money we got for him."

"I personally told him that Bayern and him would be a good fit," Klopp said after speaking to Coutinho this summer. "The arrival of the Brazilian isn't good news for Dortmund because it adds yet more talent to a direct rival."
