The Basque coach has left Qingdao Huanghai & will move to England

Juanma Lillo, until now the coach of Qingdao Huanghai, will leave his role with the Chinese Super League club to become Pep Guardiola's No.2 at Manchester City.

After leaving Japanese side Vissel Kobe, where he worked with Andres Iniesta, Lillo embarked on a new adventure in China. However, he has left that role and will now move to England.

Lillo, 54, has been friends with Guardiola for years. The two share many ideas and admiration for Johan Cruyff, while Guardiola cited Lillo among his references.

Among others, Lillo's coaches Real Sociedad, Almería, Tenerife, Real Oviedo and Salamanca; Atlético Nacional and Millonarios in Colombia; and was Jorge Sampaoli's No.2 with Chile and Sevilla.

He will take Mikel Arteta's place at the Etihad Stadium. Arteta left City to become the coach of Arsenal earlier this season.
