Mourinho gave his opinion on the incident which occured during Manchester City's Carabao Cup triumph over Chelsea

Former Chelsea, and Manchester United, manager Jose Mourinho has given his opinion on the incident which dominated Manchester City's Carabao Cup victory over Chelsea. Kepa refused to come off the pitch despite his manager, Maurizio Sarri, insisted that he did. It involved a very public shouting match but ultimately ended with the Spanish keeper remaining on the pitch.

Mourinho, a man who is never afraid to voice his thoughts, said this to DAZN following the match. “Luckily I never had to go through this. The goalkeeper wants to show his personality, his confidence, wants to show that he is there and wants to be at the shootout and make saves - and I like that. (But) I don’t like that he leaves his coach and the assistant coach in a situation of great fragility."

The Portuguese coach also spoke about how uncomfortable the situation looked for Kepa's planned replacement, Willy Caballero. "And his teammate, who was ready to enter the match, and who in the end saw himself in the middle of a problematic situation that had nothing to do with him."
