The Portuguese coach, currently unemployed, knows the league well and could be an outsider to take the manager's job

Following Rafa Benitez's departure from Newcastle United, the club is now looking at available candidates to replace the popular Spaniard. According to 'Mirror Sport', Jose Mourinho could be an option for the Premier League side if a takeover is completed by Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan.

Mourinho, who is currently waiting for the right job to come up after being sacked by Manchester United, knows that a potential takeover at Newcastle could see them challenge the richest sides in the league. Mourinho also has close ties to a legend in the North East, who he worked with at FC Barcelona, Sir Bobby Robson.

Mikel Arteta, currently Pep Guardiola's assistant at Manchester City, and Birmingham City's Garry Monk are also on the shortlist.

Benitez could end up in China. Dalian Yifang are offering him a two-year contract worth €13m. Yannick Carrasco and Marek Hamsik are two of the more recognisable names in the Dalian lineup.
