Corinthians want Barcelona flop Philippe Coutinho from Villa

The playmaker could still earn Barcelona some money but it seems unlikely

Philippe Coutinho has a dark future at Aston Villa, where he arrived under a year ago from Barcelona.

Steven Gerrard’s departure and Unai EMery’s arrival has not helped his cause.

The Brazilian’s agents have put hands to the pump to find a new home for the 30 year old. Corinthians, the Brazilian side, might be the right destination. They have a great relationship with his agent, Kia Joorabchian.

He might do the same thing that he did with Willian who went back to his club of origin from Arsenal before returning to London with Fulham.

They know it will be hard, even to loan him, financially.

Barcelona could still make money from Coutinho, as they get 50 per cent of any transfer profit as long as the deal is over 20m euros, which is what they sold him for.

In the case of Corinthians signing him, that would not happen.

Flamengo wanted Coutinho a year ago as reported by SPORT. He liked the idea of a return to his native Rio de Janeiro, as part of a recovery and fitness plan to get him ready for the Qatar World Cup, which in the end he was not called up for. However Gerrard and Villa stepped in.
