The 8-2 beating by Bayern Munich will leave a deep wound in Barcelona's dressing room. Nothing will be the same. It's the end of a way of operating that has brought much success to the club. And the end to a hierarchy of players that have gone on getting more and more power as their titles have increased. However the ridicule in Liverpool and above all, the humiliation in Lisbon is a full stop. Time to start again.

Various players will go, including historymakers like Luis Suarez, the third greatest goalscorer Barca have had. Bartomeu signed him against the opinion of the sports department, who wanted someone at Valencia or the dressing room who wanted someone from Man City.

Bartomeu took charge of the negotiations and the signing ended up as a capital success. He was part of a magic act with Leo Messi, scoring some goals as good as the Argentine's, even.

In the moment of change he has been criticised but he's not culpable for the Bayern defeat. His team-mates too, the coaches and the directors, because Lisbon was a corrective moment for everyone. In fact he scored in one of the few good moments for Barca in the game.

It could be his last game for the club but, despite being out for four months, he's got 21 goals and 11 assists, the 21st top tally in Europe. It will be hard to find a replacement who can do better than Suarez. Maybe now it's the moment to go; this situation is never easy. The two sides have to give their grain of sand to make sure his goodbye can be like that of Puyol, Iniesta and Xavi.
