Finally, a great Barcelona side reappear in Europe

Barcelona gave a great account of themselves in Turin. With just one 'but' - the finishing. With a bit more luck in front of goal, Ronald Koeman's team could have sealed the win before half-time, and ended up with a thrashing.

For all of that, there were various changes. The team knew how to defend as a solid block, but also got help from the wings. Dembele, but especially Pedri, worked hard. The former scored and shone on the right flank, showing that is where he must be used. And we had an improved Griezmann, who hit the post, set up Messi and participated well. Still, more is expected.

Ronald Araujo's injury was one negative, after he battled very well with Alvaro Morata in the first half.

However Barca got better as the clock ticked. The team knew how to rule the game and generate danger. Pedri shone especially, despite his age, dominating and showing fine skill, worthy of starting in these big matches. His progression and adaption to Barca's game is brutal.

This is Barca's best d display for some time, in the Champions, against Juventus, in Turin! A fine game which invites some lost optimism to return, at least.
