Barcelona have Brazilian blood back in their veins, with Raphinha arriving after Dani Alves departed. The second signing for a fee that the club have made since Laporta arrived, after Ferran Torres. Given the club’s economic situation they have to be careful.

Memphis, Eric, Aguero, Kessie and Christensen arrived for free. Signing for free is always good but the competition for players of that calibre is big.

Ferran Torres is valued at 45m euros per Transfermarkt and Barcelona paid 55m for him, plus 10 in variables. For now, his performance leaves a lot to be desired. It’s true he’s young, arrived halfway through a season and his price-tag strangled him a bit. Now let’s see how he does with a full season. Freeing himself and taking a step forward is what top players do.

Raphinha, who is worth 45m euros per Transfermarkt, cost 58m plus 9m in variables. He’s a player everyone speaks well of and we hope it’s a good investment. Only his performance can show if the price is adequate. We have to take into account that this player would have been a bargain at 25m euros if Leeds went down, and in the end it cost Barcelona 42m more potentially.

The third signing is yet to be announced but it is sealed. Robert Lewandowski. He will come for 45 plus 5m, to bring the goals that were missing last season. It’s making a statement, by Laporta, to sign a player that can be a figurehead for a team lacking one since Messi left. Now they have him. He will arrive in the USA as a true marquee signing.
