Roca has been one of the stars of Espanyol's impressive start to the season

Real Madrid, according to OKdiario, are interested in Espanyol midfielder Marc Roca. A report claims a potential deal was raised in September in the dinner between the clubs' two boards before the fixture at the Bernabeu.

The young Catalan midfielder, 21, is in great form. He has hugely improved with the minutes he's been given by Rubi after breaking into the first team under Quique Sánchez Flores. With Rubi, though, he's become one of the most important players in the side.

Roca came through the club's academy and has a contract at Espanyol until 2022. His release clause is 40 million euros.

OKdiario explains that two names were on the table at the dinner: Mario Hermoso and Marc Roca. The former is likely to return Madrid, the club he left Espanyol for for a price of around 7.5 million euros per.

As for Roca, his clause wouldn't be a problem apparently. Madrid are happy to spend if it's on Spanish players with big futures in the game, as we have seen in recent years.
