Official: Valencia finally complete signing of Celta Vigo's Maxi Gomez
The Uruguayan has signed a contract at Mestalla until 2024
Valencia confirmed the signing of Celta Vigo forward Maxi Gomes on Sunday, with the player signing a contract at Mestalla until 2024 with a release clause of 140 million euros.
Gomez, 22, has committed his future to Valencia following drawn-out negotiations between the two clubs, which have also seen Santi Mina return to Vigo as part of the deal.
Celta will also receive an additional 14.5 million euros and have confirmed that they will get a percentage of any future sale.
During his two seasons with Celta, Gomez scored 30 goals in 73 appearances as part of a productive partnership with Iago Aspas.
English side West Ham also wanted to sign him and were prepared to pay more but the player wanted to stay in Spain and Celta were keen on welcoming Mina back to the club.
