Neymar 'invents' a penalty but VAR takes it away from him

The PSG man was ruled to have dived in his country's win over Costa Rica

VAR revealed Neymar to be a 'diver' on Friday as the Brazil star had a penalty taken off him in his side's win against Costa Riva.

After falling referee Kuipers with a theatrical fall in the opposition box, the match official referred to replays of the incident and decided to overturn his original decision to give the penalty.

That happened in the 78th minute of the game, with Neymar dropping after feeling a slight touch on his chest, waving his hands in the air in search of a spot kick.

The Dutch official, who was close to the action, pointed to the spot. However, he then turned to VAR to make sure he had not been fooled by the Paris Saint-Germain man.

And he decided he had. After revisiting what had happened, he decided that Benitez had not fouled Neymar and canceled the penalty amid protests from the Brazilians.

However, Brazil did manage to go on to win the game, with Philippe Coutinho and Neymar scoring in stoppage time to earn them a 2-0 win.
