The French midfielder's relationship with Mourinho could force a transfer

Tanguy Ndombele knows that now is not the time to make any rash decisions. But he is preparing for all possible scenarios. And keeping in mind his complicated relationship with Tottenham coach Jose Mourinho, the French midfielder is looking at his options in the event he looks for a change of scenery. The ex-Lyon man's preference is Barcelona, who have followed him since his time in Ligue 1.

The newspaper L'Equipe revealed last week that Ndombele is not happy with his coach, Mourinho, who has not hit the ground running with the 23-year-old, who has a deal in London until 2025. The length of his contract with Spurs is the major hurdle for any club that hopes to sign him this summer.

In England, the media went one step further on Monday, reporting that Ndombele would want to move to Barça in the case that he leaves Tottenham. The coronavirus-enforced stoppage of football has changed everything, though, and the player and his agents know they cannot work on anything until there's some awareness of how the game resumes and what comes next.

It will be then that Ndombele makes a decision with regard to his future. In any case, an exit will not be on the cheap, especially for Barça, who have a complicated relationship with Mourinho, while Spurs chief Daniel Levy is known to be a tough negotiator. In addition, the Catalan club have to sell before the buy.

What is clear is that Barça are looking to regenerate their squad and Ndombele is a player they have liked for a while, especially because of his room for growth. Remember that, in addition, the group of French players already at Camp Nou could play an important role.
