The Uruguayan centre-back and his country will be at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar

Uruguay will be at the Qatar 2022 World Cup. They beat Peru 1-0 and qualified for their fourth world tournament in a row.

Luis Suarez, Cavani and Diego Godin, from the old guard, along with newer faces like Barcelona’s Ronald Araujo, managed to get it done before their last game against Chile.

Araujo, like almost always with Uruguay, played at right back. Godin and Gimenez is a partnership that is untouched for years. That’s where Xavi used Araujo too, in the Clasico.

He played 90 minutes in the 1-0 win over Peru, playing with his usual power and a threat at the other end from set pieces.

If nothing changes, he seems set to be a part of Diego Alonso’s side at the World Cup. Before then, Barcelona will hope to have renewed his deal.
