The former Espanyol striker, now at Villarreal, has hit out at his former club for not letting him say farewell to the Espanyol fans

Gerard Moreno has broken his silence over his move to Villarreal this Saturday and aimed a shot at someone at Espanyol for preventing him for saying goodbye how he wanted to. "I'm very grateful to Espanyol but was one person there who wouldn't let me say goodbye to the fans. Maybe it wasn't important to this person."

In an interview with RAC 1, the former Espanyol striker didn't reveal the name of the person who stopped his farewell but said: "I understand the fans are disappointed at how I left the club. I wanted to hold a press conference to thank the supporters for how they treated me over the years. I love them a lot and that won't change. I was proud to wear their shirt."

A hurt Gerard said: "It was a situation I didn't like but I try to remember the positive aspects of my time at Espanyol. I've turned the page."

The Villarreal forward also had words to say about his replacement at Espanyol, Borja Iglesias: "He'll give them plenty of good moments. He scores goals, has the quality and above all is a fantastic person. Not only with the fans but also in the dressing room."
