Montilivi was packed full with 14,000 fans as the Catalonian national team took on Venezuela on Monday.
After shutting off the lights at the stadium a spectacle of dance and music took place with a ceremony involving over 100 youngsters from Igualada, Bangles, Angles and Girona.
A lot of flags in the stands created a great atmosphere and then the national anthems of the two teams rang out.
In the end Quim Torra, the president of Catalonia, was not there. The game kicked off around 10 minutes late.
Other politicians including Damoa Calvet, Teresa Jorda, Joan Soteras and Marta Madrenas were present.
