Lautaro doesn't reach a deal with Inter, moves closer to Barca

The Argentine star is poised to leave Italy at the end of the season and come to Camp Nou

Inter Milan are starting to see that it is impossible to keep Lautaro Martinez this summer. The Italian club have offered him to renew but there is no deal as he wants to move on. There’s no bad feeling between player and club but it’s practically impossible for him to stay. He wants to join Leo Messi and play for Barcelona, ahead of any Premier League switch.

He joined in 2018 for 25 million euros but not on a contract worth that of a superstar. He was a bet, arriving young, taking 2 million euros a year.

Inter contacted his agent in January to offer him a double pay rise, up to 4m euros per season, below what Barcelona are offering and far less than what he would earn in the Premier League - Chelsea and City would offer 10m euros a year.

Lautaro’s agent Alberto Yaque never wants to talk about his future but recently said the player deserves recognition in terms of salary, given he’s the most in-fashion player on the market. It was a message to Inter that their offer was not good enough.

Barcelona are convinced they can strike and take the player, unless Inter’s owners drastically improve what they have on the table.
