The defender is out of contract this summer and could replace Junior Firpo

Barcelona have decided to remodel their defence. One move they will look to make is sell Junior Firpo and bring in a replacement to compete with Jordi Alba.

The list of possible signings is short and among the candidates is Paris Saint-Germain's Layvin Kurzawa, who is out of contract this summer.

Kurzawa emerged as an option in February. The key has been the defender's change of agents. He is now working with Kia Joorabchian, who has a good relationship with Barça following deals for Philippe Coutinho and Neto.

Barça's plan is to sell Junior and invest very little in his replacement. The fact Kurzawa is available for free makes him an interesting option.

But there are also sporting reasons. The club have good reports on him and tried to sign him in 2016, when they ended up signing Lucas Digne instead.

Kurzawa is ready to come in as a backup at Camp Nou, although he will compete for a regular spot. It's a similar role to the one he has had at PSG.

He has a lot of experience and has represented France. Barça feel he's a good option and if it doesn't work out they will be able to sell in the future.

Barça are talking to his people and believe it won't be hard to reach an agreement. The only problem is that Barça have to sell before they can sign -- which they are working on.

Kurzawa's agents have warned the Catalan club there is also interest from Arsenal and Napoli, among others, and they won't hold out too long for a decision. The priority is Camp Nou.
