Ronald Koeman wants to add more depth at the back in the winter window

Barcelona know they need to bolster their squad and a fourth defender who can compete with Gerard Pique, Clement Lenglet and Ronald Araujo is an important target.

If Eric Garcia cannot come, the board are looking at low-cost options to help fill out the squad.

They may go for Chelsea's Antonio Rudiger, who is willing to negotiate a loan deal, with the German happy to move.

Liverpool's Joel Matip is another option but with injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez it now looks unlikely. Mustafi, at Arsenal, is another option who has Liga experience. The Gunners would let him go with his contract also expiring at the end of the season.

Other names include Fazio (Roma) and Pezzella (Fiorentina). The latter would cost around 15 million euros. Barca have been alert to how Musacchio is recovering from injury at Milan.
