French newspaper 'L'Equipe' has revealed that Lyon might be forced to sell Depay due to their own financial woes

Barcelona haven't given up hope they should sign Memphis Depay this month. According to 'L'Equipe', Lyon have financial worries of their own and can't afford to let one of their key players leave for nothing once the winter transfer window opens. Another factor in Barça's favour is the Dutch striker's unhappiness with how Lyon have handled his future.

Depay has already agreed on personal terms with Barça and is waiting for the two clubs to finalise a fee. He's desperate to make the switch to the Camp Nou and link up with Ronald Koeman. Lyon's president, Aulas, has predictably gone public about a possible move for Depay and claims Barça don't have the cash to complete a deal.

The player's desire to move is why Barça remain hopeful a solution will be reached before the transfer window closes. According to 'L'Equipe', Barça need to keep the fee low in order to avoid FFP sanctions with LaLiga. They will also have to convince Aulas to sell for around €20m.
