Atalanta are considering a move for Junior Firpo this summer to offer competition for their current left-back Gosens. According to reports in Italy, Barça's move for Lautaro Martinez has stalled which, in turn, means so too is Junior's move to Milan. Now Atalanta are ready to test Barça's resolve.
Atalanta's offer is said to be a loan (€2m fee) with an option to make it permanent for €18m, with a further €5m in add-ons. It's considered an expensive deal for the Italian side but they can afford it.
Barça want to streamline their squad a little bit as Ronald Koeman looks to create the core group he'll work with this season. Junior is someone he is willing to let go, just like Nelson Semedo, but their inability to raise funds looks set to cost them the chance of signing Sergiño Dest from Ajax. He's expected to join Bayern Munich instead.
