Atletico Madrid turned down the chance to sign Rakitic and Luis Suárez

Atletico Madrid have turned down the chance to sign Ivan Rakitic and Luis Suarez this summer according to ESPN. Rakitic has already joined Sevilla whereas Suarez is expected to sign for Juventus. Yet both could have been reunited under Diego Simeone at Atletico.
Yet the two players were turned down immediately by Atletico because neither fit the profile of player the club wants nor would they be willing to match either's wage demands.
Atletico also turned down the chance to sign Valencia pair Rodrigo Moreno and Dani Parejo. They were both targets for Atleti in previous windows but the forward ended up joining Leeds and the midfielder is now at Villarreal.
This is further proof that Barça aren't the only side in Spain to feel the pinch following the COVID-19 pandemic.
