Robert Navarro will do preseason with the Ligue 1 club's first team

As first revealed by SPORT, Robert Navarro has officially joined AS Monaco. The young footballer, considered by many one of the best players in Barcelona's academy, signs a three year deal with the Ligue 1 club with the option to extend by an additional two years.

Talks over a new contract with Barça in recent months did not reach an agreement, which led to him leaving to try his luck in French football.

According to Monaco, Robert Navarro will train with the first team as of Monday. Once the season begins, though, he will alternate between the club's reserve team and youth team.

The teenage talent, born on April 12, 2002 (he's 16), plays as an attacking midfielder and becomes the latest player to abandon Barça in search of a quicker route to first team football elsewhere.

"AS Monaco are a great club and they heavily rely on coaching and giving young players the chance to express themselves at the highest level," Robert said. "My goal is to work hard to move forward and take new steps."
