The Brazilian and the Frenchman work together well, excluding the Uruguayan

At the weekend in Ligue 1, Kylian Mbappe scored four and Neymar grabbed one in PSG’s 5-0 win over Lyon, but the odd man out in attack was Edinson Cavani, who left with nothing.

Looking at the stats from the club’s Champions League game against Red Star Belgrade, we can see a pattern emerging.

In that game Neymar gave Mbappe 19 passes, who responded with 11 back to him. However he did not connect with the Uruguayan even once during the match, while Mbappe only served him two balls.

In La Liga and against Lyon, Cavani was taken off after 40 minutes because Fresnel Kimpembe was sent off ant Thomas Tuchel readjusted his tactical pattern.

In the time he was on the pitch, Cavani didn’t receive a pass from Neymar or Mbappe.

It’s clear those two get along on the pitch but they don’t seem to understand Cavani. Last season, of course, there was the famous argument over the penalty between Neymar and Cavani. Time appeared to heal that rift but something is still not right.
